A food donation solves today. A skills donation solves the next twenty years. We do both, and both matter, but the second kind of giving is the quieter work and it rarely makes it into a photograph.
Saylani Mass IT Training, which most people know as SMIT, has been running since 2013 and now offers more than 80 specialised courses. The teaching is hands on and built around real projects. A student needs basic computer familiarity and the time to commit, and that is close to the full list of entry requirements. The seat itself, along with the trainer, the material and the certification, is paid for by donors.
What a funded seat actually covers
A free course elsewhere usually means a folder of recorded videos. That is not what this is. A seat covers classroom or supervised online access, trainer time, course material, assessed project work, certification and career support at the end. The last item matters more than most donors expect. A certificate on its own rarely gets a reply from an employer. A certificate with a finished project behind it usually does.
Ten digital skills your donation can teach
Our course list shifts as the market shifts, and availability varies between campuses. These ten come up most consistently.
1. Modern web and mobile app development. Students build working applications instead of reading about them, and finish with something they can show a client or an interviewer.
2. Graphic design with AI. Design fundamentals first, AI tools layered on afterwards. That order produces designers rather than people who only know how to prompt.
3. Digital marketing with AI. Strategy, analytics, paid platforms and search, taught together. Search work is often where graduates begin, partly because a business with a website and no traffic is an approachable first client, and partly because agencies handling seo services in pakistan hire at exactly this level.
4. Shopify and ecommerce. Store setup, product listings, collections and order management, taught end to end rather than as an overview.
5. Python programming. The entry point into automation, data work and later AI roles. Slower to pay off than design, but it opens more doors.
6. AI and data science. Data handling, model basics and the practical judgement to recognise when an output is simply wrong.
7. Cyber security. A demanding track that suits students who are comfortable with detail, documentation and slow methodical work.
8. Power BI and data reporting. Dashboard and reporting work, which tends to suit students who would rather hold a salaried role than freelance.
9. IT support and networking. Vendor aligned training for students who prefer infrastructure and hardware to writing code.
10. Virtual assistance and lead generation. The lowest technical barrier of the ten, which suits students who need to start earning while they continue studying.
Why a skills donation keeps paying out
The arithmetic is not complicated. A ration bag ends. A trained graduate keeps earning, supports parents and siblings, and in a lot of households quietly pays for the next sibling to study without anyone having to ask. This is the logic behind Sadqa e Jariah, and skills education sits comfortably inside it.
There is also the part that never appears on a donation receipt. A young person who had no work and now has clients carries themselves differently at home. Families notice that before they notice the money.
Fund a seat
You can fund a student’s course through our education donation . Zakat is accepted for students who fall within the eligible categories, and Sadqa covers the wider programme costs. If you would rather your contribution follow one student from enrolment through to certification, ask our team about sponsorship instead of a general donation.
Frequently asked questions
Are these courses genuinely free?
Yes. The majority of courses at Saylani Mass IT Training are delivered at no cost to the student. Students are expected to have basic computer skills and to attend consistently.
Can I give Zakat for IT education?
Zakat is accepted for students who fall within the eligible categories. Our donations team can confirm how a specific contribution will be allocated before you give.
How long before a student starts earning?
It varies by course and by the student. Lower barrier skills such as virtual assistance can produce a first payment within a few months. Development and data roles usually take longer but pay more once established.
Can overseas donors contribute?
Yes. We accept donations from supporters outside the country alongside local ones.
